What BFT is doing

BTF is developing sustainable tools to strengthen SPS-related policies and practices in the country. As Codex Alimentarius is the apex international body to set and implement food safety-related standards, BTF is working to strengthen the country’s position in Codex. In addition, standard procedures will be developed to improve SPS practices at border points. Activities include:

  • Development of National Codex Implementation Strategy to coordinate standard implementation across agencies
  • Formation of sampling and inspection SOPs
  • Institutionalization of Pest Risk Analysis process and support PRAs for lime varieties
  • Improving coordination among all SPS-related stakeholders
